What is lift-up stair storage?+
It is hidden storage created beneath the lower part of a staircase. Shoe Hole adapts the bottom two existing steps so they lift smoothly and reveal the void below.
Will you replace my staircase?+
No. We work with your existing staircase and adapt the lower two steps, subject to suitability.
Will the stairs look different afterwards?+
When closed, they still look and work like ordinary stairs. The storage and lifting hardware stay hidden beneath.
Which homes are most suitable?+
Shoe Hole is designed mainly for modern and new-build homes built from around 2000 onwards. Every staircase differs, so photos are essential.
How long does installation take?+
Most suitable installations take around two hours. We will confirm the expected timing before the visit.
What can I store inside?+
Shoes, wellies, school bags, sports kit, toys and similar everyday hallway items. We will explain sensible limits for your specific installation.
How much does it cost?+
The standard price is £399 fully fitted. Two qualifying nearby homes fitted on the same agreed day are £349 each, and three are £299 each.
Is there a warranty?+
Yes. Every Shoe Hole installation includes a 12-month warranty covering Shoe Hole workmanship and hardware supplied and installed by Shoe Hole. Your statutory rights are unaffected.
How does the neighbour deal work?+
Nearby homes with suitable staircases arrange one agreed fitting day. Two homes are £349 each and three homes are £299 each. We check every staircase and confirm the price before booking.
Do I pay to get my stairs checked?+
No. The initial photo suitability check and quote are free and there is no obligation.
